Planning fishing trips can be fun, but oftentimes it
can get downright, nasty. Especially if
you are planning for a group of people. Each
person has their own take on a trip
and what they want to accomplish.

When
I plan a fishing trip for the "boys"
here is what I always take into consideration.
6
Things I always ask when planning a FISHING
TRIP:
- What
type of fish do we want to target?
- Where
do we want to go?
- How
long do we want to stay?
- How
much are we planning on spending?
- Do
we want to book a guide for one day?
- When
do we want to go?
The
last question on this list always gets the biggest
and loudest remark. Here is what is always
said: "when the fish are biting" or
"when the fish are in".
Just
remember if you are after seasonal fish like
Salmon, the best times to book a guide go fast.
Plan your trip way ahead of time
or be ready to leave on a moments notice if
your fishing trip is within driving distance.
If
we plan a fishing trip for several days then
we always consider the area. If it is
new territory, we like to hire a guide for at
least a half day to learn some of the local
tricks. Nothing is harder than trying
to figure out how to catch fish in new waters.
Time is your enemy, use it wisely.
If
we do plan to use a fishing guide then we try
to find 3 guides in the area and ask them for
prices and availability. We do not hesitate
to tell all of them, we are seriously looking
for a guided trip and that we are contacting
all the local fishing guides to find the best
price. It is amazing what happens when you let
them know you are SERIOUS and SHOPPING.
Please
don't mess around with these fishing guides
and take them on some journey to Mars. They
are smart people and can figure you out
in a hurry. If they know how serious you are,
they will work with you.
The
one last bit of advice I do have for you is
this: "get everyone's money in your hands
before you put your name down on the dotted
line". It has happened to us on more
than one occassion, where I have purchased the
trip, tried to collect the money and the day
before we leave, people are backing out. GET
THEIR MONEY IN YOUR HAND'S BEFORE YOU BOOK YOUR
FISHING TRIP.
ENOUGH
SAID
Below are a couple of trips that are
worth mentioning. If you have a favorite spot,
favorite guide or a memorable trip, please share
it with us. Good or bad we want to help
