If you are looking for a fishing vacation for your buddies keep in mind you will have a few options.

3 basic fishing trip options.

A pampered trip (all inclusive) will cost you more money but all you do is fish. They arrange all flights, meals and the best part is you don't have to cook or clean up your mess.

The partial pampered trip is usually a fly-in fishing trip. It is basically the same as above except you need to arrange for your flight from your home town to their pick up point. From that point forward you are going to be one pampered fisherman. Keep in mind most fly in trips make you pay extra for a fishing guide and we highly recommend hiring a guide unless you know the area very well.

Build your own fishing vacation is basically that. Start from scratch and locate a guide or charter service. You arrange all flights, meals, hotels, etc. These can be cheaper trips but usually they end up being one big headache unless you know what you are looking for or you have someone help you.

I have found some absolutely awesome bass fishing hot spots along the Columbia River that seperates Oregon and Washington. Known for it's salmon, the Columbia River fisheries include walleye (state record of 19+ lbs), large and small mouth bass (5 pounders are common), sturgeon (12 footers are common), steelhead, perch and many other pan fish.

If you would like to plan your fishing trip around fly fishing then look for great fisheries in Montana, Michigan, Alaska and Idaho. Many other western states have great fly fishing waters and we will share them with you once it is available. Family fishing vacations hotspots include Hawaii, Florida, Mexico and Costa Rica. Hawaii fishing offers many deep sea fishing opportunities and it is one of the most popular family vacation packages to date.

Way up in North America the two hotspots are Alaska and Canada. Most people who think Canada think fly in fishing trips. Canada fishing is wide open and many of the lakes and rivers that you will fish cannot be accessed by car. When you fish Canada you will be closer to nature than any other place on earth. Canada fishing provides more than just fish. The scenery is spectacular and the view is breath taking. Walleye, trout, bass, salmon and steelhead are the most sought after fish.

Alaska fishing is world renowned for their HUGE salmon. King Salmon in the 50 pound class are the norm on some rivers. There are at least 5 different species of salmon that you can catch on a consistent basis. Timing is critical so make sure you plan your trip when the salmon are running. And don't forget, Alaska experiences about 20 hours of daylight in the summer.

Each charter or guide service that you contract with will give you a punch list of what to bring and what to expect. We have found that the GPS is more than just a toy. When you are fishing on streams (especially Alaska) and you encounter a furry creature that is 5 times your size, you quickly forget about the fish and high tail it into the hills. Having a GPS is a life saver and I wouldn't be caught without one, regardless of where on earth I am.

It has been said many times "failure to plan--is a plan to fail". No fishing trip is complete without reviewing our equipment used for trips and fishing gear site. Here you can learn exactly what is needed, read some books and learn the habits of the fish you will catch.

From time to time we find some absolute rock bottom prices on fishing trips and fishing vacations. This also includes equipment used for fishing. If you would like to hear about these deals, please subscribe to our newsletter. We will publish all the deals we are offered and find in our newsletter.
